Why are we called Third Half Advisors?
Co-founder Campbell Gerrish, a former college rugby player, recalls that at the end of every game, players from each side often convened together for a “Third Half”. Players put their competitive instincts aside and connected on a different level, establishing relationships and a community that added a richness, depth and purpose to their lives. Even though the match was over, this “Third Half” was often the best part of the game—something to look forward to, to be excited about, and to build upon.
Our lives are similar. We grow up, we work hard in a chosen profession, and we retire. But when we retire and conclude our own “competitive match” in life, many of us have a desire for more, yet struggle to find the engagement, purpose, and connections we want.
So why shouldn’t our own Third Halves be more like the Third Half of a rugby match? We think it should and we want to help inspire and foster that type of engagement for you in your community.
Third Half Founders
Caroline and Campbell, the founding partners, have known each other for over fifteen years. Caroline, as a private banker at JPMorgan (JPM) and Campbell, as a principal of Winged Keel Group (WKG), worked together on advising high net worth executives and families on all aspects of their estate and insurance planning. JPM and WKG then formed a joint venture to provide professional advice on life insurance matters that met bank standards. They truly enjoyed collaborating to successfully serve an exacting clientele.
Once Caroline had moved on from JPM and Campbell began to wind down at WKG, they continued to meet and would discuss the next stages of their lives — and in those conversations, The Third Half was born. Together they have over 70 years of business experience, most of it working with highly capable and demanding client groups. Their tremendous business acumen, shared values, and deep desire to help people bring strength and depth to The Third Half, both as a business venture and in shaping their own lives. They themselves are Third Halfers!
